Weather its Dance, Martial Arts, Drama or some other activity that young people engage in its brilliant to be able to photograph kids doing something they are really passionate about.
There is nothing like starting a sport or hobby when your young and sticking at it, putting the hours of practice in, week in week out, attending competitions or taking grades or exams so you can strive to be better.
Dominic below is such an example shown here in action during a recent Karate Portrait Photoshoot we did in Lancashire. He's been training a long time and has achieved his black belt. You can tell by the way he moves and executes these kicks that he is talented and will be a real force when he's older.
We are lucky at MyFoto to be able to capture some great memories of kids doing what they love.
For this Photoshoot we used a black backdrop to contrast nicely with the white Karate Gi, it was also nice to breakout the really big 86" Extreme Silver Parabolic Light Modifier that we got from Paul C Buff in the USA. It gives some zingy snap crackle and pop to these martial arts portraits that works really well.
